FAQ
Common questions.
Practical answers for getting Streemi.ng discovered, connected, and comfortable as a second display for your Mac.
Why does my tablet not show up on my Mac?
Streemi.ng uses local network discovery. Make sure the tablet and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network, the receiver is running, and the tablet is awake.
If it still does not appear, try restarting the receiver, closing and reopening macOS Screen Mirroring, disabling VPN temporarily, or switching away from guest, school, hotel, or enterprise Wi-Fi. Some networks block mDNS, multicast, or client-to-client traffic, which prevents nearby devices from finding each other.
Does Streemi.ng send audio to the tablet?
Not yet. Tablet audio is in progress, but the current release is focused on using the tablet as a display.
Keep audio on your Mac for now: open Control Center in the top right, choose Sound, then pick Mac speakers, headphones, or the audio device you want to use.
My mouse moves to the wrong side. How do I arrange the screen?
On the Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > Displays. Use Arrange, then drag the tablet display to the side where it sits on your desk. The pointer follows that layout.
My free session ended. Can I reconnect?
Yes. Free sessions last 60 minutes. When a session ends, reconnect from macOS Screen Mirroring to start another free session. The lifetime unlock only removes the session limit.
What kind of Wi-Fi do I need?
Local network quality matters more than internet speed. Use 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi when possible, stay close to the router or access point, and avoid congested networks.
As a baseline, aim for at least 50 Mbps of real local throughput. High-resolution sessions are happier with 100 Mbps or more. Weak signal, mesh hops, and busy networks can add lag, dropped frames, and compression artifacts.
I bought it, but it no longer works for me. What should I do?
Contact support@streemi.ng and include what changed, your Mac model, macOS version, tablet model, Android version, and your Streemi.ng support ID if you sent diagnostics.
If you bought the lifetime unlock in the past 14 days and it does not work well on your setup, tell us. We do not want anyone stuck with a purchase they cannot use. Feedback is genuinely useful because macOS, Android, device firmware, and router updates can change compatibility.
Can I stream to Windows?
Streemi.ng currently targets Macs. Windows support is something we are exploring, but it is not part of the current app.
Windows also has separate native wireless display options. Windows PCs can cast to Miracast displays, and Windows can receive casts through the Wireless Display optional feature on supported setups. Some Android devices also support manufacturer-specific casting features such as Samsung Smart View. Support varies by PC hardware, Windows setup, and Android manufacturer.
Does Streemi.ng need internet?
The display session itself is local between your Mac, tablet, and Wi-Fi network. Internet access is used for things like installing the app, purchasing or restoring the lifetime unlock, opening help pages, and sending diagnostics if you choose to send them.
Can I use USB instead of Wi-Fi?
Not yet. A wired private network over USB is an interesting path, but the current release is built for local Wi-Fi.
Why does quality or lag improve after a short while?
The Mac encoder and the Wi-Fi link can settle during the first moments of a session. A cleaner local network, stronger signal, and fewer competing devices usually make this settle faster and keep the display feeling more responsive.
What does the lifetime unlock include?
The lifetime unlock removes session time limits. There are no subscriptions, ads, accounts, or online activation requirements for the core display experience.
Please test the free sessions before buying. Streemi.ng is independent software provided as-is, and future updates from Apple, Android, tablet makers, or router vendors can affect compatibility.
